Wang said at a press conference after a meeting of foreign ministers from France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, Iran and China, the first of its kind since the US withdrawal from the Joint Global Action Plan (JCPOA).
Wang said the meeting participants pledged to continue to respect and implement the JCPOA, to oppose unilateral sanctions that violated international law and to effectively protect the international non-proliferation regime.
Beyond the Iranian nuclear issue, China supports a five-point approach, said Wang.
- International rules must be observed. Wang said it was reasonable in international law to respect international agreements, adding that important countries should play a leading role in this regard and that domestic political change should not and should not be used as a pretext to circumvent international obligations. ,
- The JCPOA should be implemented seriously. JCPOA is an international agreement backed by the UN Security Council and all parties are committed to its implementation, said Wang.
He also said that in the last three years the JCPOA has demonstrated its effectiveness in containing the nuclear crisis and guaranteeing the international non-proliferation system, and emphasized that there is no excuse for not supporting or completing the agreement.
- Stability must be maintained in the Middle East. Wang said the region was at a critical juncture and that the lack of maintenance and implementation of the agreement with Iran would have serious negative consequences for the regional situation.
- Unilateral sanctions must be abandoned. Wang said China has always opposed unilateral sanctions and that only pressure and sanctions have been counterproductive.
- Dialogues and consultations should be highlighted. Recognizing the fact that we can not wait for a problem to be resolved under the JCPOA, Wang said that China supports all parties in the construction of an inclusive and transparent dialogue platform under the premise of implementing the agreement to discuss and resolve problems of Common Interest and guarantee peace and stability in the region.
